The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) partners with community organizations to support hospital and community programs that enhance the well-being of residents, patients, staff, and families.
Volunteer Services collaborates with individuals, churches, schools, universities, and civic and social organizations to create meaningful volunteer, mentorship, and internship opportunities. These partnerships help strengthen community involvement and support DCF programs and services.
Throughout the year, DCF sponsors community-focused donation drives, including food, school supply, and toy drives. Volunteer Services also coordinates annual events such as Staff Day, the Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, holiday celebrations, and Take a Child to Work Day. In addition, DCF arranges monthly pet therapy visits for residents in each unit, providing comfort, companionship, and enrichment.
Volunteer Services also manages the Resident Clothing Store, which operates entirely through donated clothing. Community members may drop off donations at the Volunteer Services Department in the Chapel, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST. The store gives residents the opportunity to select clothing that reflects their personal style, creating a positive and empowering shopping experience.
The Florida Department of Children and Families coordinates the Florida State Employees’ Charitable Campaign (FSECC) each year. As the only state-sanctioned workplace charitable giving campaign for state employees, the FSECC provides employees with the opportunity to support charitable organizations of their choice through payroll deductions and fundraising events.
Florida State Hospital has participated in the FSECC since 1994 and has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and support for the campaign. In recent years, annual fundraising efforts have generated between $53,000 and $130,000, reflecting the generosity and commitment of hospital employees to improving the lives of others and supporting communities throughout Florida.
Due to the scale and success of the campaign, Florida State Hospital follows a structured approach to planning, organizing, and promoting fundraising activities. Volunteer Services oversees and coordinates the campaign each year, ensuring its continued effectiveness and success.
