SAMH Prevention Coalitions

Partnerships and coalitions are effective in communities for sharing resources. Partnerships can improve and strengthen information exchanges; access to specific expertise; resource allocation; trust among key stakeholder groups; and buy-in, commitment, and involvement at state and local levels.

A Prevention Coalition is a formal arrangement between groups or sectors of the community that share similar goals and are willing to designate responsibilities for achieving the goals. Prevention Coalitions typically focus on community change, community outreach and social changes that affect the health and well-being of all residents.
