VPK Early Literacy
The VPK Early Literacy course is one of 4 requirements for the VPK Director Endorsement. It may also be used to meet the following requirements:
- All child care personnel in facilities, large family child care homes and family day care homes are required to complete 5 hours or 0.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) of approved training in early literacy and language development of children from birth to 5 years of aged. This is a one time requirement.
- All child care personnel are required to complete 10-clock-hours of Annual In-service Training completed between July 1 and June 30 each year.
Staff Credential Requirement
Effective July 1, 2006 the lead VPK teacher must have an appropriate and active credential. The form CF-FSP 5206 (Staff Credential) may be used to verify credential and level and type of degree.
**Employment History Exemption and School-Age certificate are not accepted for VPK.
VPK Director Endorsement
Consistent with the requirements of section 1002.55(3)(f), F.S., a private prekindergarten program delivering the VPK program must have a director who has a VPK Director Endorsement, issued by DCF, that meets the requirements of Rule 6A.6.040(2), FAC.
