Child Care Training Exemptions
Competency Examination Exemptions
Prior to attending mandatory training, child care personnel and family child care home operators have one opportunity, if they choose, to exempt from any part of the Part I, Part II *, and/or Family Child Care Home Rules and Regulations courses by successfully completing a competency examination.
* Exemption exams are not available for the Department of Children and Families' web based Part II specialized training modules.
Child care personnel may be exempt from portions of the mandated introductory training if they have completed certain professional educational programs. In order to receive an educational exemption; download, complete and submit a Staff Credential application.
If you have an Active National Early Childhood Credential (NECC), OR an Active Birth through Five Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), OR a 2 year degree or higher WITH 6 college credits in Early Childhood Education/Child Growth and Development, OR a 4 year degree in Elementary Education with certification to teach any age birth through 6th grade, you are exempt from the following Training Modules: Health, Safety, and Nutrition AND Child Growth and Development AND Behavioral Observation and Screening.
The Department or its designated representative shall exempt child care personnel with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Pre-School Education from the following Training Modules: Infants and Toddlers Appropriate Practices AND Pre-School Appropriate Practices.
The Department or its designated representative shall exempt child care personnel with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Elementary Education from the following Training Module: School-Age Appropriate Practices.
The Department or its designated representative shall exempt child care personnel with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Exceptional Student Education from the following Training Module: Special Needs Appropriate Practices.
