Florida Department of Children and Families, Broward and Palm Beach Area Refugee Task Forces and Other Agencies Honor World Refugee Day on June 19
Naturalization ceremony and Family Fun Day events at Broward College North Campus
BROWARD COUNTY – In celebration and recognition of South Florida refugees and World Refugee Day, the Florida Department of Children and Families is partnering with the Broward and Palm Beach Area Refugee Task Forces, along with other supporting agencies, to host Family Fun Day on June 19 in Broward County. The joint two-county event also will include a special naturalization ceremony for refugees and immigrants representing more than 40 countries.
A showcase of free community services will take place afterward from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Broward College’s North Campus Omni Auditorium.
In South Florida, refugees have come from all regions of the globe and many have fled ethnic, political and religious persecution. An Iraqi refugee who fled his country with his family last year due to violence and threats to his life will be available to speak with the media.

World Refugee Day on June 20 is sponsored internationally by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. In South Florida, DCF, the Broward and Palm Beach Area Refugee Task Forces and other agencies offer services to help refugees.
