Melbourne, Florida - Yesterday, the Florida Department of Children and Families assumed custody of two children reported missing to the Melbourne Police Department last week. The children were safely located with their parents earlier this week in the state of California. Late last night, the sisters arrived back in the state of Florida, accompanied by child protective investigators who were met by the Orlando Police Department at Orlando International Airport around midnight.

There is an emergency shelter hearing that will take place today in Brevard County at 11:30 at the below address. A shelter hearing is for the purpose of determining if DCF had probable cause to take the children into custody and if the children will remain in protective custody.

The address of the courthouse is: 2825 Judge Fran Jamieson Way Viera, FL 32940.
