DCF Employees Recognized with 31 Prudential Productivity Awards
Winners recognized for their work improving the delivery of state services, saving money for Florida taxpayers and businesses

TALLAHASSEE—Dozens of Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) employees – 31 in all - have been awarded 2015 Prudential Productivity Awards for improving delivery of services to children, vulnerable adults and families while protecting taxpayer dollars.

“The state and our communities are served everyday by the hard work and innovative contributions of DCF employees,” Secretary Mike Carroll said. “I am pleased their efforts to help protect families and lower costs for Floridians are being recognized.”

Some of the DCF initiatives that won honors include:

  • DCF’s Office of Public Benefits Integrity saved taxpayers $5.7 million with thorough investigations, public record searches and the utilization of an extensive database in order to disqualify fraudulent cases within public assistance programs.
  • The Public Assistance Reporting Information System (PARIS) was utilized to save a total of $892,800 in food assistance payments and 4,700 months of Medicaid overpayments by reviewing the validity of customers receiving benefits within the state and terminating those receiving benefits in multiple states.
  • Northeast Florida State Hospital saved nearly $700,000 in overtime expenditures for nurses by streamlining and expediting the hiring process, developing an orientation process that addressed retention of new hires, creating a new position focused on scheduling and other innovative practices.
  • DCF’s Office 365 Automated Installation Team saved the department $390,000 and 6,000 hours of technical support time by developing a seamless, automatic installation process that reached 11,500 employees without interrupting workflow.

More than 500 nominations were submitted that contributed to productivity improvements, cost avoidances and increased revenue for state government.
