DCF Child Protection Summit to Draw Record 2,700 Attendees
DCF Secretary Mike Carroll and experts share vision for child welfare
ORLANDO—Florida’s Department of Children and Families (DCF) will host the 2015 Child Protection Summit September 9th-11th at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes, located at 4040 Central Florida Parkway in Orlando. The annual three-day summit is Florida’s largest gathering of child welfare professionals with record attendance of approximately 2,700 expected this year. DCF Secretary Mike Carroll will kick off the summit on Wednesday, September 9, at 1 p.m.
Attendees will include attorneys, case managers, child advocates, child protective investigators and supervisors, Child Protection Team staff, child welfare trainers, court staff, foster and adoptive parents, guardians ad litem, judges, law enforcement and juvenile justice professionals, service providers and youth.
The event provides child welfare professionals and foster and adoptive parents the opportunity to meet and network while they attend workshops led by child welfare professionals from around the country. Representative Gayle Harrell will open a panel discussion about substance abuse and mental health coordination with the child welfare system at noon on Thursday, September 10, that will include a judge, a foster parent and child welfare professionals. Numerous awards and recognitions will also be presented.
