DCF and Partner Agencies Hold Free Resource Fair and Distribute Food to Area Residents
Partnership aims to promote well-being, good health and provide fresh, nutritious food to families and individuals in need
QUINCY – The Florida Department of Children and Families and Farm Share will host a free resource fair and food distribution for residents of Gadsden, Franklin, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty and Wakulla counties on Tuesday, April 30 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Farm Share in Quincy.
Department of Children and Families Secretary David Wilkins will join numerous volunteer organizations and Farm Share in distributing fresh and nutritious food to those in need.
The “one-stop shop” event will bring together organizations serving the Big Bend’s rural and urban areas to help residents learn more about health, family support and elderly services available throughout the community. The resource fair and food distribution event will feature dental screenings, health and nutrition information, low-cost health insurance options for Florida children ages 0-18, information about temporary benefits programs like food assistance and Medicaid, and the Gadsden County Library bookmobile.

WHO: Department of Children and Families Secretary David Wilkins and numerous organizations serving residents of the Big Bend Region, including Farm Share, Magellan Health Services, Big Bend Hospice, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation, Tobacco Free Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration, Florida KidCare, Alzheimer’s Project, Gadsden County Health Department, Gadsden County Health Department Dental Clinic, Bookmobile Gadsden, Bond Community Health Center Mobile Services, Capital Regional Medical Center Gadsden, Sickle Cell Foundation, Healthy Start, Gadsden Community Health Council Prescription Assistance Medical Services and more
WHEN: Tuesday, April 30, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Secretary Wilkins will help distribute food between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Media are invited to attend.
