Community Kickoff Event for Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign
Free Admission to Glazer Children’s Museum for Prevent Child Abuse Event
TAMPA – More than 1,200 children and families are expected to attend the 5th annual community kickoff for Pinwheels for Prevention on Tuesday, April 5 from 1:30 – 7 p.m. at the Glazer Children’s Museum. The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), in partnership with The Children's Board of Hillsborough County’s Keeping Kids Safe Partnership and the Glazer Children's Museum, will be hosting a fun-filled and informative Pinwheels for Prevention community event. Pinwheels for Prevention is a national campaign to build individual, family, and community strengths to prevent child abuse before it ever starts. The community kickoff event coincides with National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
To start the event, three families who received support services from local community partners will share their stories of success. Immediately following the short program, the Glazer Children’s Museum will be open for free admission to families with children until 7 p.m. Throughout the museum, dozens of community providers will have activities and distribute information on resources and services available to local children and families.
