AT&T Sponsors Florida Youth in Foster Care to Attend National Flight Academy’s Ambition AIR Program
~New Camp for Champions Inspires Interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)~
PENSACOLA – Through a partnership with AT&T, Florida’s Foundation and the Department of Children and Families, youth in grades 7-12 currently in foster care will spend five days this week attending the National Flight Academy’s Ambition Aviation in Residence (AIR) program at Naval Air Station Pensacola.
Signaling its longtime commitment to education and STEM, AT&T contributed $25,000 through Florida’s Foundation for the 20 foster youth to participate in an interactive, hands-on learning opportunity to promote enthusiasm in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. The AT&T-sponsored camp is one of more than a dozen statewide Camps for Champions this year for children in foster care to build self-esteem, confidence, and character and strengthen life skills.
The foster youth joined their Ambition squadron mates on Sunday for the week-long Ambition AIR adventure, which immerses students in an educational and exciting aviation-based environment that inspires students to excel in STEM discipline. The unique learning program culminates in a graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 27.
