The theme for the event is The Journey and interactive educational displays will be set up to depict the refugee experience including a replica of refugee camp. In addition, there will be a cultural festival with displays from Iraq, Former Burma, Cuba, Ethiopia, Iran and many other countries. The program will include live music, dancing, a cultural fashion show and an original reading of a poem written for World Refugee Day by James Tokley, the Hillsborough County Poet Laureate.
This year’s event will include ethnic dishes and entertainment.
There will be two components to the celebration: An outdoor Community Fair/Bazaar from 10:00 to 12:00 PM and an indoor Live Cultural Entertainment from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
The Collier Refugee Task Force will partner with USCIS to host a citizenship ceremony from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Prior to the citizenship ceremony there will be cultural performances, food and information tables. The keynote speaker at the ceremony will be RS Director Hiram Ruiz.
The focus of this year’s event is on outreach; providers will have information tables and networking opportunities. There will also be children’s activities, music and entertainment.
In celebration of 2014 World Refugee Day, the USCIS will conduct a Naturalization Ceremony at 11:00 AM at the Main Library, 303 North Laura street, Jacksonville, FL 32202. The 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM event will include cultural shows, arts and crafts, Nepalese dancers, bamboo dance, etc.
The celebration will be a joint event in support of refugees in both Palm Beach and Broward counties. The focus of this year’s event is on cultural contributions of the refugee community. A special awards ceremony honoring refugees, volunteers, and those organizations and individuals that assist refugees will be presented.
The Early Childhood Mental Health System of Care we would like to invite you to join us this Thursday, May 8th at 1:00 pm outside of the Big Bend Community Based Care office in Washington Co. to recognize Child's Mental Health Awareness Day 2014. A Rose bush will be planted at BBCBC in order to raise awareness about the importance of focusing on every child's mental health and that mental health is essential to a child's healthy development starting at birth.
