Public Assistance Fraud

Public assistance fraud is not a victimless crime. Real people, real families are hurt when public benefits get into the hands of criminals. An elder adult whose Social Security does not make ends meet, or a couple who have suffered unemployment in a down economy.
In 2012 we:
- Conducted 35,282 ACCESS Fraud investigations
- Saved $40 million in dollars from fraudulently going “out the door”
- Recovered $19 million in benefit overpayments
At DCF we are using creative, groundbreaking methods of catching the criminals. We are leading the nation in the fight against public assistance fraud, but still need your help.
